A little MUA Review

Ok, so I'm going to start reviewing some of the products I currently own, and first products in the shooting line are the MUA (Makeup Academy) eyeshadows.

There has been a fair amount of hype about this line across various blogs and on youtube, so a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was about time I tried some of their products.

I bought two colours: Shade 18 (Below left) and Shade 17 (Below right) - both matt eyeshadows:

Shade 18 is a beautiful vibrant looking matt purple.

Shade 17 is a matt sand colour.

Above are the two colours swatched with any without a base (top is without a base)

So what do I think?
  • First lets talk price.. All the products in the MUA range cost just £1. For that price you cant go wrong really. I think the products are perfect for people like me who are begining to establish a makeup collection and are not sure what colours work, etc, but also anyone who just wants to try out new colours without wasting large amounts of money on something that may not work, suit them, etc.
  • Now the quality.. For the price I really wasn't expecting much at all from these shadows, but when applied on their own they are pretty pigmented. I mean obviously not as pigmented as more high end brands, but still pretty good. However, when they are applied over a base the colours just come to life.. look how vibrent the purple is!
  • How long do they last? This is probably the products biggest downfall. There is almost no point in wearing these eyeshadows on their own (without some kind of primer). Bearing in mind that I do have fairly oily eyelids, these eyeshadows do not last very long and do crase (I have never hadd this problem with other eyeshadows before). However with a primer, they do last for a substantailly longer period of time.
Overall, I think these shadows are a really good deal, and I look forward to trying more products in the range (especially some of the 'pearl' shades). A review on the lipsticks and lipglosses will be coming soon too!

Hope you didn't find this too boring and thanks for reading! X

NOTD - 17 Fast Finish in Knockout Red

True to its name, this nail polish really shocked me. I bought it yesterday because the 17 polishes were on offer and I just thought why not? And boy am I glad I did.

It is completely opaque after one coat, really easy to apply, a fantastic vibrant red (the pictures do not do it justice) and it dried in seconds! And for £2.99, I don't think it gets much better!

Looked like this after one coat:

I also bought  17 Lasting Fix in Royal Rose and used it on my grandma (she asked if I could give her a manicure!) and she absolutely loved it.

Who said you have to go bankrupt to find a good quality nail polish ;)

NOTD - Revlon Minted

Thought I would just share my new absolute favourite nail polish. I bought this a last week and have been wearing it sincee :)

Firstly the colour. Like its name suggests it is a lovely pastel mint green, less blue than it appears in the picture.

It applies fairly easily - the brush could be larger, but i've used much worse! It doesn't take years to dry and takes two coats to achieve an opaque nail.

So far i've had it on for four days, which is an incredibly long time for me (i nomally change my nail colour every couple of days). I think this is mainly due to its staying power. I have a bad habit of peeling nail varnish off as soon as i see a chip, but so far no chips! It might have something to do with my new base and top coat (Nails Inc. A&E and Albert Bridge) which i also love, but either way i love the colour, and it is definately a new spring favourite :)

Hi guys!

So I'm new to this - it seems weird to be writing this down when I don't know if anyone will even read this!

I've been a follower of many beaty gurus on youtube for a while now and know how useful their reviews on products can be. I thought it was about time that I joined the beauty blogging bandwaggon!

But first, heres a little bit of info about me:
 - I live in England
 - I am a student, currently studying for my GCSE's (obviously not at this exact moment in time!)
 - I like my animals, chocolate and Simon Neil
 - I dislike Justin Bieber and the fact that there are some very noisy builders doing something to my neighbours garden atm - since when do builders work non-stop from 7.30 am to 6pm?!

And finally, thankyou to anyone who actually botheres to take a look at this page, even if it was an accident, and hopefully see you soon! X
